Hello,
Depending on the soil composition in the ground where the "jade" was found....Jade takes in the minerals around it. Some jade will have diferent colored "rinds" on the exterior. I work primarily with big sur jade which has a briny white exterior from the ocean; however, I own jade from around the world and each peace has a different exterior color. To find out if your Jade is quality or jade at all....cut into it! Many Jade hunters use what is called a "core drill bit", this is a large, wide drill bit with a hollow center which allows you to extract a circular piece from the boulder for inspection....You can also try sanding or using an angle grinder to take away the exterior surface and find out what is underneath. Pricing a large boulder of jade is quite difficult! Depending on the quality and the buyers needs for buying it, your boulder could be worth $50 or $5,000. Hope this helps:)
