Group Discussion > Jade Carvers

Hello, I've had in my possession a 1.25kg, 4.4 x 3.7 x 3.4 inch "moss in snow Burmese jadeite" for 10 years now. I've been reading Friends of Jade for years now and somehow the post I always return to is "A Mountain Scene Carved in White Jade from Ge'ermu" by Herb Geiss. I've had this jade in my possession ever since I was 12 years old. And though I am planning to part with my rock and mineral collection this piece holds sentimental value for me (being the first jade I have ever bought) so I will continue to keep it. But I plan in the future to have it carved into a mountain scene to make it even more special. My questions are-
Are jade carvers readily available in China?
Do they accept commissions even though the jade isn't theirs?
How much would it typically cost?
And lastly can they understand and speak English?
